- The childcare center said that my child cannot return. I have to work! What can I do?
- My daughter's childcare provider won't let her get up to get drinks unless it is "time". But, her
medication makes her thirsty. Do I need to switch her provider?
- My son is always in time out at daycare. The teacher doesn't understand that he has trouble sitting
still for more than half an hour. I have tried to talk to her but she says that his behavior is disruptive. I
can't afford to take him anywhere else. What can I do?
As many of you are well aware...schools are mandated to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (also known as
ADA). This law allows people with disabilities to not be discriminated against based upon their disability. Did you also
know that childcare centers are also under the same law??? Any childcare facility that uses federal or state funding
MUST comply with ADA laws to accommodate kids with special needs. That includes Child Care Development Funding,
food programs, and any other source.
